Another featured blog

The blog of Callum James, called Front Free Endpaper, often has little gems of gay literary archival interest. Two recent posts I found of interest follow. Where else but the worldwideweb are you going to find such wonders.

"Sicilian Love Song," by Lord Aflred Douglas, found in one of the The Bruno Chapbooks, "a series of publications which came out of Greenwich Village in New York under the direction of arch bohemian, Guido Bruno...Bruno was publishing this poem and some other material by Douglas in The Spirit Lamp, in Sept 1915, about the time that Douglas was beginning to re-envisage his relationship with Wilde. It's clear from the editorial gloss in the magazine that Bruno is annoyed by this and publishes this selection by way of claiming that 'the lady dost protest too much.'

To Leander in Sunset by the Southern Sea, the full text of a perhaps never before published poem by John Addington Symonds and a note of where James came upon the poem, etc.

James indicates his interests include "science-fiction, victorian and vintage photography, gay literature, book design, typography, homoerotic artwork, the Amazon river, the books of Frederick Rolfe (Baron Corvo), Forrest Reid, sundry gay Victorian and Edwardian characters, Slash Fiction, Samuel R Delany, Vintage swimwear, Willard Price, Venice, and so on.."

That's one freakin' cool dude!
